What on earth is "cafe society" Mr Ezekiel?

In the "Isle of Thanet Gazette, Friday, September 29, 2006", Page 2, Council "leader" Sandy Ezekiel is quoted as saying "...it is one of our mainstays in the Conservitive group to promote cafe society."

My question is this - what on earth is he dribbling about?

Naturally I googled the issue. (for non technical users it means I used powerfull search engines to dig up more facts).

I found this:

"Our politicians display a new form of aggression that relies on a gesticulation more usually associated with Roman cafe society..." from: guardian.co.uk

Not really very informative for a "mainstays in the Conservitive group". So I continued to read down the search results and soon found this:

The newspaper reported that the Tories had signed up to support the organisation Conservatives Against a Federal Europe (Cafe).

But a Tory spokeswoman told BBC News Online that the reports were simply "a storm in a teacup".
From: bbc.co.uk

Could Mr Ezekiel have confused "Conservatives Against a Federal Europe" with places you eat lunch?

It does seem so.

The article where the quote appears discusses the resignation of Cllr Jack Cohen who is quoted as saying that "...the leadership has lost it's way".

I'd say! It seems the "leadership" has no idea what it is talking about. I am no better enlightened.

Interestingly Cllr Kirby said: "I think this is a storm in a teacup."

This never ending supply of highly localised storms seems to be quite a problem for the Conservitive party.

So can any one please enlighten me as to this super secret "cafe society" which is a mainstay of the Conservitive group that no one has ever heard of?

Or is Sandy Ezekiel just a total berk?

"Thanet Café Culture Policy" is not even a draft yet!

I was passed a link to a PDF as part of the admin story follow up process.

http://www.thanet.gov.uk/pdf/Forward_Plan_7August-6December2006.pdf

Mr Ezekiel the "pre-emptive prat of the week award" goes to you. Not only are you talking about things that are at the very early draft stages as if it were publicly known fact but you even got the name wrong!

Acording to council documents this "cafe society" rubbish was actually the "Thanet Café Culture Policy" due to have it's first draft reviewed SPETEMBER 2006.

"Thanet Café Culture Policy (Control & Management of Tables, Chairs & other related furniture as part of third party street trading activities)" is what this dunce is talking about. It is due to be decided "September 2006 onwards" and requires the draft copy of the policy with the silly name: "Draft Thanet Café Culture Policy".

How then can the resignation of Cllr Jack Cohen from the party stating "leadership has lost it's way" and citing a planning permission issue that happened to involve a cafe possibly have anything to do with a draft policy on "Tables, Chairs & other related furniture"?

Right now I fully agree with the feelings of Cllr Cohen. The leadership in question seems to be a blind, deaf, mute and foolish thing.

Mr Ezekiel - this is a dunce cap, go stand in the corner on the stupid chair and think about what you have done!
