Demoted Tenancies - New TDC proposals.

Thanet District Council

Some people might be aware that TDC introduced a period of introductiory tenancies which means that new council tenants are not full tenants for a year.

This means that bad tenants can be quickly got rid of only if they are bad tenants in that year. However it also means that right to buy takes an extra year to become available.

With the shortage of housing caused by no council replacing it's prperty pool this must have seemed like a great idea.

Now they wish to go a stage further and introduce "Demoted Tenancies" which is a way of revoking the rights of tenants to make them easier to get rid of.

Naturaly they have put the "disruptive tenants" card into play yet again. However, it could easily be used to force a blind and unthinking system to get rid of critics. Be they critics of the spending of monies on bad builders or other general neglect and substandard works.

I've just downloaded a PDF

I've just downloaded a PDF from the council website for a totally different reason and yet I found something of interest.

Demoted Tenancies (introduction of demoted tenancies for Council tenants) By December 2006
Lead Officer: Brendan Ryan
Principal Consultees: Internal and external stakeholders, current council tenants
Means by which Consultation is Proposed to be Undertaken: Meetings, etc.
List of Documents submitted to the Decision Maker: None.

Where is the mention of the survey. Is it true that this servey does not need to be submitted to the one(s) that make the decision because it seems to be the case.

I've just said it...

...but I'll say it again: Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodies?
