Photo-story:
As per the threaded comments that followed on from the Story here this is a photo story detailing the traffic getting down onto the lower prom at Palm Bay.
The user Gorilla1 reports observing "free for all parking, driving, quad biking, motor biking and other assorted vehicular activity along what should be a place for escape from CO2".
It would seem that the barriers being rather flimsy and delicate could not stand the usual level of attention the vandals of the area give and they have been twisted to worthlessness.
I had promised to publish some photographic evidence and then shamefully (despite being ill) failed to publish them for arround five days. These photo's were taken 26/07/2006.
I have an A level in photography (on a technicality) and personally think a good job was done with this lot. Without the aid of a two thousand pound zoom on a three thousand pound camera I can't see hwat else could have been done.
I've "enhanced" some of the images a little not to make them look nice (some look shocking) but to make the content as clear as possible. I've linked to the originals in almost every case anyway.
This image was taken by Gorilla1 (so I understand). I have adjusted the levels and so forth to make things a touch clearer. (See original) Toward the far end of the prom there is clearly a van and two other cars.

I've zoomed in 210% and toyed with the levels and contrast just in case you missed it the first time.

Hodges Gap 26/07/2006 (the one you can see is a shrunken clipped version to fit on screen).
Here we can see a car party going on as people take advantage of the ability to drive right up to the sand to avoid parking fees or excercise.

Soomed in, just incase you missed anything. (i've played with the filters to try and make a good image).
But this is not the end of things. The next day I was sent some more images.

Foreness point this afternoon. A campsite. The email said.
To help out any councillers who might suffer a sudden attack of blind-spot-itus there are some big arrows showing you what to look at.
There is little chance now that the council can deny that the barriers a broken and that this is well known.
Now I have no problem with other thanet bloggers downloading copies of these images to add to FlickR or to Bloggers photo editor or whatever so they can post the images and write about the story although it might be an idea to double check with Gorilla1 who provided the images to start with.
