This site does not fullfill it's original purpose and so must be changed.

To this end we are going to start afresh splitting the site into three or more unique sites each with a unique domain name.

We will in time produce a search engine specifically for thanet content.

None of us intended to become administrators of a large and unwieldy system to complex for the average web user to consider using. But we have become this.

The site once designed as a place where complaints about the council could be aired has become a complex and underused forum that more resembles a blog that users such as "Lord Matt" and "Brogan Hutchns" have more or less maintained in solo.

This site was not designed to be the voice of a few malcontents but the voice of the people.

The following limitations have been identified.

- It is not possible to keep out spam without keeping out users
- the framework used is not user friendly
- There is little effective difference between one form of content and another
- The complaint ticket system did not achieve the objectives that led to this platform as a choice
- we have drifted towards a portal for thanet as a whole
- We can not single handedly process so much information and keep it up to date
- We can not engage with people, or for that mater with each other.
- The platform (DRUPAL) is buggy, insecure and badly supported

The following changes have been proposed by the working group

- We will create a number of sites and run them as a co-operative group
- We will use a new platform that is content and object centred, well supported, and easy to develop for
- We will choose an open source project a good level standards compliance
- We will not require users to create accounts
- As part of this we will create a full portal for thanet
- We will create an identity that everyone can be a part of
- We will provide WYSIWYG editors with spelling checkers
- We will create a separate co-operative blog for those that wish to continue in this
- We will preserve all the information we can.
